The Seychelles Archipelago consists of 100 islands, scattered like jewels in the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean. The largest island, Mahe, is just 4 degrees off the equator and 2.5 hours by air from Mauritius.

The international airport is located at Mahe, which is also the economic and political centre of the Seychelles. Roughly 90% of the population (a mixture of European, African and Asian) live here.

The capital (Victoria) boasts Creole restaurants, craft shops and galleries, while the island abounds with coconut palms, cinnamon plantations and towering peaks. Most of the other islands are accessible by boat or by air and Praslin and La Digue are recommended for all to visit.
